The pattern is getting full ghost rider!!

Hello All!!

Today is September 19, 2007 and this is the first official day of the Cessna 195 Fly-in.  There's already 30 airplanes tied-down since yesterday.  What a beautiful site it is to see these airplanes wing tip to wing tip!  There's another 50 arriving today but not until they head over to Beaumont for a fly-in lunch.  Won't that be a site!!!  On Friday, they will be flying over to ICT for a tour of Cessna, so that should be a site to see also.  The owners of these beautiful airplanes don't just fly and park, they love to get up in the air and fly!!!  So come on out and watch the pattern light up with polished aluminum and gorgeous paint schemes!!!!  You won't be disappointed.

This Saturday, September 22 2007, we'll be hosting one of our "Boy Scout all you can eat pancake breakfasts" from 8 until 11am and we'd like to invite you and your family and friends to come on out for breakfast and to walk the flight line and visit with folks from all over the country.

It's gonna be a hoot and you won't see more 190/195 BusinessLiners in one place than right here in the Air Capital of the world, Wichita Kansas and the funnest (that's right...funnest!!) place to fly, Stearman Field!!!  So don't forget your camera.

Be safe out there and if you bring the kids, hold on to em tight!!

Pancake Feed and Fly-In at Benton Airpark
Thursday, 16 August 2007

Join BSA Troop 219 this Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Benton Airpark in Benton, Kansas where we will jump start your day with a hot batch of flyin' flap jacks topped off with hot butter and syrup, sizzlin' sausage, cold orange juice, and a bottom less cup of steaming hot coffee.  The third Saturday of every month at Benton Airpark is always filled with the aroma of sizzlin' sausage, fresh brewed coffee, and enough flap jacks to pave a runway.  All this can be enjoyed in the air-conditioned comfort of the aircraft showroom floor for a donation of $5 per person.  Children under 5 always eat free.

This is a great way to join your neighbors for some fun and conversation while supporting Benton Area Youth.  Remember those days when we actually took time to visit.  They are back at Benton Airpark.

There will be plenty of flying activity on the airport to keep everyone entertained and, of course, plenty of hangar talk.  For those of you new to aviation, you will be able to identify these pilot stories as they will usually start out with the key phrase; "There I was" or some other colorful tale you will be sure to enjoy.

Treat yourself!  Throw away the frying pan and come join us Saturday for a fun filled morning.  See you there.

Scouting Stearmans

23 March 2007

If you were a Scout in Benton, Kansas last weekend, life was good!  The Scouts of Benton Troop 219 descended on Benton Airpark for a weekend of high flying thrills and adventure.  The day started with the pancake and sausage feed and went right into a day of aviation thrills.  Each and every Scout had the opportunity to fly in a 1942 Stearman and experience the thrill of soaring as sailplanes danced overhead.  They also enjoyed the roar of radial engines and the buzz of airplanes as local pilots took to the sky.  Now, how cool is that?  Finally, the Troop set up camp just east of the field, enjoyed a camp dinner and slept under a cloudless canopy of stars.  Like I said, if you were a Scout in Benton, Kansas last weekend, life was good!

Troop 219 would like to thank our sponsors for this event:  Vintage Flyers, The Wichita Canteen, Benton Airpark, Benton Lions Club and the many friends and guests who came out to support our Scouts and enjoy a plate of pancakes and sausage.  We invite all of you to visit Benton Airpark every 3rd Saturday of the month to enjoy pancakes and sausage and to just have some "plane" fun.  We always have hot cakes and sausage on the grill from 8 to 11 am.  All proceeds from these funraising events goes to support area Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops.  See you there!
